Court of Appeal Upholds Residents Court Challenge to Scarborough Hospital Print

Ontario's courts have once again ruled in favor of Scarborough residents who are concerned about the direction the Board of Director is taking regarding the quality of health care at the Scarborough Hospital.  Given the continuing and broad based opposition from doctors, nurses, residents and now Ontario's highest court, there should be no doubt that the Board of Directors at the Scarborough Hospital must resign.

The question is no longer whether the Board should resign, or be forced to resign, but how will the Ontario government intervene in this affair, and how should residents respond given the Board of Directors were only implementing the government's policies to regionalize health care away from Scarborough.

Scarborough Recieves Fewer Community Services Print


As parents we would do most anything to give our children the opportunities they need to live health productive lives.  Having access to community services for children is essential in fulfilling this promise we make to our children.  Yet, depending where you live in Toronto some children have far greater access to children’s services than others. This is the conclusion reached by a report released by Community First Toronto.

Toronto's Toxic Hot Spots Print

The Toronto Environmental Alliance released a map showing the location of toxic chemicals in Toronto.  They are calling for the City of Toronto to enact a 'right to know' bylaw to inform residents about pollution in their neighbourhoods.  The largest concentrations of these pollutants exist in Etobicoke and Scarborough.  The map identifies the toxic chemical releases in 2003.  Click for map...
